My apologies, MPs do care about privacy…

By thegrimpeeper

…not ours of course, theirs.

After lots of back and forth, argument and counter argument and generally running up the tax waste meter, the House of Commons Commission last week challenged a ruling by the Information Tribunal that a full breakdown of MPs expenses must be made public under the Freedom of Information Act.

Well done the House of Commons Commission.  It is so comforting to know that MPs (paid out of our taxes) spend little or no time at all defending our rights to privacy but then squeel like stuck pigs when asked to tell us what they personally are spending our money on.  It really could not be more loaded with irony.  Do these people have no shame whatsoever?

The challenge was heard in the High Court and judgement is expected at some point in the future (guess it must be rather more complex that I had innocently imagined then).

Given that the challenge was heard before the most splendidly named Sir Igor Judge, I have every confidence in an eventual ruling consistent with the highest standards of common sense.
