…the ongoing effects of the twin assault on smokers launched by Labour last year. Several of my colleagues have now received £75 fines for dropping their cigarette butts on the pavement. Putting aside my less than positive views on people who litter, it reminded me of the spitefulness of Labour that at exactly the same time their social engineering was forcing people onto the street to smoke, they put in the double whammy of financing local authorities to strictly enforce littering regulations. So, not only were people bullied into standing outside pubs and cafes to smoke, they were then harrassed by local council jobsworths for littering.
We thought the council had given up as the ladies and gentlemen in dayglo jackets with plastic IDs round their necks had not been seen for a few months. But no, they’re back, but this time in plain clothes. Is this not preposterous? Plain clothed smoking police? And that is what they are, as can be proven by the huge amount of rubbish dumping of all types in Southwark that never draws their interest if it is not smoking related.
Recently, a female colleague was shocked when a man without any visual indication of Jobsworthiness ran round the corner from where he had been spying on her as she dropped her fag end. Please do stop for a moment and imagine the scene: a hard working, tax paying, law abiding woman pounced on by the undercover smoking police and landed with a fine in an area of London in which it appears to be perfectly safe to commit vandalism and mugging with little or no response from the state. What a fine image of Brown’s Britain.
Erich Honecker would be so proud of you Gordon, so very, very proud.
